Hello. I own a KitchenAid (Whirlpool) Superba Side-By-Side Refrigerator, Model KSRB22QDBL00 (Manufactured date May, 1995); based upon the sound of the unit as it operates, I have noticed what, simply, sounds like the unit's motor or compressor or condensor first revving as it it cycles and then quickly stopping, followed by an immediate, and once again, revving and then stop, and, again, revving and then stop.

My concern is that the compressor, a motor, the thermastat, or some other system unit may either be failing or simply not operating. Please note that there is no evidence of system (read: freezing) failure in the freezer compartment, as items such as ice, ice cream, frozen meals and the like are all and continue to be frozen. As for the refrigeration compartment, items also seem to be approriately cold. That said, and within the refrigerator compartment, I have noted water rings on a glass shelf below several juice and slad dressing bottles.

Please note that I live on Northshore, Massachusetts, and our home has central air conditioning. Also, I have never had any problem with this unit in the 6+ yeasrs we have lived here. However, we did not buy the refrigerator as it came with our purchase of the home, and I do not have an owner's manual for the unit.

I welcome your insights and comments. Thanks you. Sincerely, Bob Breen

You might have an evaporator motor going bad, just check in the freezer. Should replace it as if it fails, you will loose cooling.
