Hi, I have a maytag performa washer that will not drain or spin? when I was messing with it I started to notice a burning smell and looked under where the belt is and it had melted a little on the motor pulley? any idea what this could be ? is it worth repairing?

It may just be a worn belt and the motor pulley is slipping on the belt burning it. It could also be the spring loaded idler pulley which keeps the proper tension on the belt. See if all the pulleys turn easy with out the belt.
