Just took delivery on a new GE 30 inch gas range. The conversion kit for replacing natural gas orifices to LP orifices was included. As i inserted and began tightening down the orifice for the middle burner the threads became crossed and soon were stripped out altogether. Can this orifice receiver be re-threaded or would I be better off trying to fiund a replacement receiver ?

Hi John

I would not recommend to re-thread the orfice holder due to very possible gas leak. Especially it's not worth to do it because the new part is just about 25 bucks form the GE. We do not have it yet because your range is a brand new designed and is still under the manufacturer warranty.
By the way, before buying the part I would call the GE to find out if they going to fix it free of charge to you.

Gene.

Gene, thanks for the advice about not trying to re-thread. I found the part on the GE website for the $25 plus about 9 for shipping/handling and tax. I will call GE about them paying for the part. Thanks for the quick response.

John
