Water dispenser does not turn off when glass is removed. What part needs to be replaced?

Hi lakedout To find out exactly which part is bad - the water valve coil or the switch in the water dispenser you should run a pretty simple test. You'll need a second person to help you. Locate the water inlet valve on the back of the fridge and the coil for the water dispenser. (The water line for the water dispenser should be 5/16"). Depress and release the water dispenser lever and remove the electrical plug from the coil. If water stopped right after you removed the plug then the water inlet valve has to be replaced. If not then the problem is a bad switch in the water dispenser. - The part number for the water inlet valve AP3160649 - The part number for the switch AP3131893 - Here are the break down diagrams for the Kitchen Aid refrigerator Model KSRS25IHWH02Good luck. Gene.

From lakedout's email:
"Hi Gene:
Many thanks. I believe it is the switch since the icemaker continues to function OK."

Gene FYI: Problem was not the switch nor the valve - it was air in the plastic loop storage (behind the refrigerator bottom meat drawer). After I eliminated the air pockets, the dispenser works fine.

How did you get the air out?

Just bleed the water line - be sure to use a large container, as it may take a while!
