Initial problem: Turned the rotary switch to run and it stayed on run and the compacor went down and came up making the thumping sound till i turned it off manually. Put in a knew rotary switch.

Secondary problem: I need to hold the rotary switch in the on position to get it to compact. It then goes up and starts thumping the top till i release it. Replaced the top directional switch. No change.

I am looking at replacing the motor switch next. does this seem like a reasonable next step. Some feed back would be great

Normal function turn switch to run not hold it on run. Compactor then compacts trash and returns to the upward starting position automatically.

Thanks

Joe,

Sounds like you are going in the right direction. If it would not help then replace the whole motor and the motor switch can be returned if ordered from Appliance Parts Pros.
