My Kenmore (Mode#106.52603100) ice maker stopped working the other day. After noticing leaking water from the freezer door (through the dispenser front unit), I opened the door and there laid ice cubes stuck in/on the ice ejector & stringers. I cleaned all the ice out of the unit and thought things were back to normal. Then a couple days later, I noticed that the ice maker stopped working all together; the ice mold was empty and no water was being push to it. So I decided to go Online and came across Appliance Parts Pros. I took a hint from one of the suggestions of someone else having similar problems. It was recommended that if the PC-Board Receiver was not emitting light, then it was bad. That was my problem, so I decided to buy the kit (both the emitter & receiver) form appliancepartspros.com. Yesterday, I installed them and all checked out fine...the light was blinking when block and solid when the Emitter cover was pushed in. Still no water to the ice maker. I thought it was a timing thing and that it will start pushing water in no time.

This morning it was still empty so I gathered that there's got to be something else wrong. I must say, there is water going through the (front) water dispenser, though; but there is just NO water going to the ice maker. Can some one please suggest as to what else might be wrong with it...can it be the water valve (Solenoid) or the ice maker it self that needs replacement? Thanks in advance. Pablo

Pablo,

If you had a multi meter, you could cycle the assembly and check for 120 VAC on the wires at the icemaker fill valve solenoid, and we'd be positive where the problem is, but at this point, the fill valve is the more likely component to have failed,

Part number: AP3160649
Part number: AP3160649

Here's a previous post about meters and how effective they are and how to use them for diagnosing electrical problems.

Good Luck,
