The washer will wash but will not go into the rinse or spin cycle. You can hear a small humming noise....any suggestions of what might be wrong?

If the washer agitates, probably a bad timer, just remove cover and check contacts, if burnt this confirms a bad timer. You can order one by clicking on your model #
