Hi, the agitator in my machine has stopped moving and it produces a very loud grinding noise during this cycle. I can't tell if the noise is coming from inside the transmission or the pulley bearing. The drum still spins and drains with no grinding noise. What do you recommend? Also, can the transmission assembly be pulled apart? Or does it have to purchased and replaced as one unit? This will determine if I buy a new machine or not.

Cheers,

The transmission is not repairable, at least not by people like me.

You can look at the bearing and the brake assembly might also be a problem, but getting into requires special tools as the brake spring is under 200 lbs of pressure.
