Hi and thanks for being here,

I have searched extensively, but still can’t quite pinpoint the problem. Like many others, the nuker quit heating, made a loud buzz, had electrical burn smell, but everything else works. Via online advice, I tried replacing the HV Diode. Ran the oven with the new one and a second or two after start, I heard a loud snap, smelled the burn again, but no buzz, this time, and of course, no heat. Everything else still works.

An electrical savvy friend of mine tested the old diode and the two 20A fuses. One fuse was blown but I do not know if this was tru prior to diode replacement. The old diode was no good either. I did not remove the new one for him to test, since in defeat I hung the oven back on the wall to clean up the wife’s kitchen until I feel like trying again.

The Mag is still in warranty but I do not know if this is the problem. I am afraid to call out the GE repairman if I do not have a mag issue and end up dropping $2-400 on other parts. I am also afraid to buy a capacitor, transformer, etc for the same reason without knowing what is really broken. Does my description send you in a specific direction on what component is causing the failure? Like many, money is tight.

Thanks for any help,

Take the magtube out and take a look at the antena to see if its burnt or black looking. If so u know its the magtube.
