Our almost new GE trash compactor has had the actuator switch broken off 3 times. I got the part and installed it with the 2 screws, however, now when I close the compactor is goes on automatically without having to push the pedal up with my foot. It also won't stop running unless I manually stop it and I'm afraid it's going to get stuck open like it did once before, requiring a service call.
Did I install the actuator switch wrong (it looks right) or is this a separate problem? It seems odd if a new problem developed in the 2 weeks the compactor hasn't been used since the old actuator switch broke off...
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it - last time the GE service man came it took him 5 minutes to fix and he charged over $150! Thanks.

How disappointing - I need HELP, and instead I get SPAM or a bad joke...
