My LG LDF6810BB is making a grinding noise, the dishes are wet, I can hear the water pumping, but the dishes are not getting clean.

Is there aa way to trip the door lock so that I can run the machine with the door open to see what is going on?

Should I just pull the sump assembly?

I have schematics but need step by step instructions to remove the sump assembly and how to disassemble the unit.

I have reasonable mechnical skills and tools. I've just never done a dish washer before.

Thanx

Here are your parts

Here is a manual

You will have to join the site to download the manual but it is free and a very good source for manuals for the appliance DIYer.

You could but you will get very wet.

That is what I would do, perhaps something has got into the chopper or impeller.

The manual was a huge help. I got in and just started to open up the sump mechcanism from the top. The gasket (see below MO35) was broken. But I couldn't remove the impellar, does the screw that holds (M130) attach directly to the motor shaft? I tried holding the impeller but could n't get the screw to budge. Am I on the right track? Or is the impeller held on some other way? I want to see if the chopper is clear, but it is under M120 and the impleller seems to be holding it down.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx Steve

I have never worked on this pump so am only guessing.

It could be that the screw is left hand thread.

It does look like it is connected directly to the motor shaft.
