We have an old GE washing machine model WWA8829. All of a sudden it started leaking. We have taken it apart and the water is overflowing the spout (part 803) at the open end. It doesn't seem to happen on the initial fill of water but the water overflows on the secondary filling of the machine for the soak cycle. We've checked the hoses and they are clear. We turned down the water pressure at the faucet and that didn't help either even when we turned the pressure down very low. We tried tipping the spout a little in a couple of different ways but that doesn't help. There doesn't seem to be anything restricting the water from flowing out of the spout, through the hose, and into the tub but nonetheless the water backs up in the spout and spills over at the open, inside edge close to the drum. Any help or advice you can give would be appreciated. Thanks

KInd of a mystery to me too. I would try replacing the spout, as it is not an expensive part. Cannot think of why the problem would be on the second filling, but if replacing the spout will fix things then we really do not need to know the why of it.
