Wow. I cannot believe what I just witnessed. I pulled my fiancees hair tie out of the pump. Must have gotten over the basket rim and sucked into the pump through the drain. She says she washed 8 of them last night in the load that stopped mid cycle. Well, now I will never buy a worthless Roper and possibly Whirlpool again. I have enough knowledge to know that I should have been replacing a busted plastic pump that was shattered by the motor. That motor is useless. Now I know why it takes 2 cycles to get all the suds out.

Thanks for the help! Everything is working as good as it can again.

I think you might have found the problem. If you can clear the obstruction without damaging the pump impeller, you won't need to replace the pump.

If the machine is full of water, you can use hose pinch-off ppliers on the two hoses connected to the pump, while doing your repair or replacement.

Does home depot sell such pliers. I have used them at work before yet I didn't even think of that. I pulled a hair tie out of the pump and everything works again. I feel that this motor should have shattered the plastic pump.

I got mine at Sears. I'm not sure if HD or Lowe's have them.
