I have a maytag performa dryer that was working flawlessly until last week. It started this intermitent screaming noise while running. Yesterday during a load, it screamed for about 10 seconds then stopped rotating and created a sort of huming noise as if the motor froze up. I tore it down this morning and found that the motor was frozen. After manually rotating the shaft a few times it seemed to free up. When the motor runs now it still screams but IS running. Is there a fix to this like lubrication or should I just replace the motor?

If I do replace the motor, is this difficult or should I have an appliance technician change it out?

Thanks,
