When did you replace the control board - before or after this power outage? If before then this part is the first failure suspect. Actually it is a failure suspect in any ways.

I just had a service technician come take a look at the oven. I couldn't risk waiting any longer, since Thanksgiving is next week. He said the gas valve/regulator is broken.

So now appliancepartspros is telling me that I can't return the spark module because it's an electrical part that's already been installed. Is that true? Is there anything I can do about this? I have no particular desire to have a $90 paperweight.

Ching,

Did he fix it? Does it work?

In all your previous posts you claimed that the problem is with sparks for Bake and/or Broil. Such problem has nothing to do with the gas valve/regulator.

All my advise has been based on the information you've posted.

As far as the return policy goes, I'm just a volunteer for this forum; therefore, I can't give you any information regarding returns. If you need further assistance on this matter, you would have to talk to one of their service representatives.

Let me know if I've answered your question.

No, in my earlier posts I said simply that my oven wouldn't light. I didn't start looking at the sparks until you advised me to check on it.

He wanted $350 to fix it -- $180 for the part, then labor. I decided I would order the part and fix it myself. So now I'm waiting to get the valve.

I am having the EXACT same problem with our oven. Just curious if the gas valve ever ended up fixing your problem. TIA!

I have been having this identical problem for years, off and on. I am no expert on oven repair and have been googling possible solutions. I found the solution to my years long problem with the help of two different threads. One guy wrote that the possible cause was a pinched wire, possibly grounded to something metal. I'm no electrician, so this sounded too hard for me. Another guy wrote that he replaced the whole burner ignitor assembly. He described step by step how to do this including removing the bottom drawer to get to the internal wiring. That's when the lightbulb went off and I went to my oven, removed the bottom drawer which was filled to the max with "metal" pans. I shined my flashlight in there and sure enough there was the wire for the ignitor in plain site. It had a small tear in the insulation. The pans in the bottom drawer were touching the barely exposed wire. Two wraps of electrical tape and Voila! Oven fires right up!
