My Maytag oven takes a very long time to heat up. The igniter is on and glowing. I smell gas. It was taking 20 min to heat up to 350 deg. now it takes about 45 min. The broiler works fine.

The ignitor is the problem. The fact that it does come on, say's the control is good, and the gas valve is good. The ignitor is weak, and that is why you smell the gas is because the ignitor is not strong enough to ignite the gas, or to keep the gas valve on. So, bottom line. Replace the ignitor, and enjoy your biscuits in the morning.
