Our gas dryer makes a loud rattling sound in the back on startup that was not improved by changing the drive belt. Once up to speed, it seems to be relatively quiet. The motor seemed to turn ok by hand, but I wondered if it might have to do with the four guide wheels on the back wall. Any counsel would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,
Check your blower fan wheel. They strip out in the center and will then free wheel on the motor shaft.
Take the front of the dryer off so you can see the blower wheel. Give the fan wheel a spin by hand to see if it spins around on the motor shaft.

You were dead on, ApplianceJunk. That's what it was and thanks to JB Weld, it seems to be ok now. Thanks.
