The torsion spring bar that "un-weights" the microwave door for my Kitchenaid Superba broke for the second time in 3.5 yrs today. I had a repairman do the replacement the first time. I'm ordering both the left and right hand parts and attempting the repair myself as this seems to be something that may happen more often than I like. :mad: Can anyone provide the steps of dis-assembly on this unit to access the torsion springs? I was not present at the first repair to watch the process. They are located inside the door. Thanks and much appreciated! Nate

Found some links to similar models on this forum and was able to figure out dis-assembly from other posts. Problem solved. Thanks!! Nate

You need to remove the trim panel between the microwave and oven control panel. With the trim off , you'll see screws (1 on each side of the M/W frame) holding the microwave to the support frame, remove those two screws, and carefully slide the microwave out far enough to access and remove the two screws along the bottom of door ( holding the door panel to the door frame). Open the door and remove to screws holding the panel to the top door frame, and remove the door panel, and set aside, You now have access to the torsion springs and can replace them Reverse procedure and check for proper door tension and operation.
