I need help finding out what part I need?

My GE Hotpoint side by side (bought in 2002) will dispense ice and water just fine, but the dispensing door (the little round one when you look up from the dispensing station) won't close all the way. Sometimes it stays open just a fraction of an inch, sometimes it stays all the way open.

With it doing this, it allows air inside, condenses, and then freezes up the chute and the ice crushing mechanism.

I'm not sure if this is a spring, a solenoid, or something more complicated.

Any help is appreciated.

It could be the switch, solenoid or the spring. The only way to check is to tear into it and start looking. The spring of course is the easiest, with a visual inspection. The switch & solenoid will need to be checked with an ohm meter.
