Wife's robe belt is wrapped (tied maybe) around the bottom of the agitator. I have unraveled it as much as possible but believe it's knotted since it will not move when pulled one end or the other at this point. Did a search but did not find anything on removing agitator for a Maytag. I have a little tinkering skill to hopefully remove the agitator to get the knotted belt out. Please help. Thanks. Quinn

Quinn, The easiest way it to pull the agitator. Remove the fabric softener cap, look down inside the top of the agitator remove the bolt and remove the agitator. Hope that helps you get her belt back ;o) Nat

Nat, That was the ticket!!! I was a little confused trying to get the softener cap off as it just kept on spinning. Pulling it was the key. Anyway, once off, it was a breeze to unscrew and yank the agitator off to get access to the knotted robe belt. (Not sure if I could have tied a stronger knot than this machine tied  LOL). Thanks so much for your guidance. Quinn

Yeh, she's getting a new robe! That thing was pretty greased up. I think there was a conspiracy- but let's not go there what with the fake lunar landing, 2nd shooter on the knoll and area 51 still yet to be resolved. :D
