I have a sears elite microwave that is 3 years old. When I start it, it runs for about 8 seconds and an error code F-9 appears. What does this code mean? Thanks, Divrcal1

You will have to contact Sears for this. We do carry parts for most Kenmores but not this model.

"Inverter Failure" is what the code means. replace the inverter and if that is not it you need to replace the Control Board. Still not fixed, well then check the door switches and monitor switch. This is the same problem I am having with my Kenmore elite microwave. Made by LG due to the 721 model number. A tech that I know says the next step would be to replace the Magnetron, capacitor, and Diode. Preferably all at the same time. Although he is certain that it is the magnetron.

I will try and follow up on my situation when the three parts come in.

Hope this helps,
