Maytag washer filled but would not agitate so handy husband "jump wired" part AP4023948 (lid check switch) and it now works fine; agitator stops when lid is opened so I don't know what is the purpose of that part or if it is necessary to replace it. Does the little red button on it possibly re-set it?
