There is a thud sound and you can feel the inner drumb drop a bit when turning it manually. Like the others who have posted I looked inside the cabinet and could not see anything amiss. The inner spin drumb seems to be loose and wiggles all around vertically, horizontally, and in&out. Any ideas? Thanks

Rank: Member Groups: Registered Joined: 7/18/2010(UTC) Posts: 44		Sounds like the dreaded broken spider with the possibility of the added bonus of failed bearings. I am guessing you do not have a Master Protection Agreement (MPA) with Sears or any other form of 'extended warranty'. In which case to confirm this diagnosis you are going to have to dismantle the machine to see inside the outer drum. Should the seal on the spider shaft have also failed there will likely be a brown streak down the back of the outer tub, at the back, from the centre of the pulley. You can get a look at that by taking the back panel off, just unplug the washer, remove the hoses from the top back of the washer, and remove the 20 odd screws holding the back panel in place. The back panel is 'structural', that is why there are so many screws, so do not run the machine, particularly in a spin 'phase' without the back panel in place and fully secured. Let us know what you find or decide to do.

If you are good at mechanical assembly, it's worth working on, or you can put the money towards a new machine.
