I own a Norge Side by Side refridgerator that I have had for around 7 years. It was owned by my Aunt for many years before that. I am not sure as to the exact age of this fridge. I am unable to locate any marking that may indicate a model number.
My problem is this. The motors are running fine. It sounds like the compressor is working. The freezer fan is running, but it is putting out luke warm air. Neither the fridge or the freezer will get cold. I defrosted it over that last two days, and still nothing. Can anyone give me any idea of what the problem could be? I am at a loss.
Thank-you

I would remove the evaporator cover inside the freezer so you can see the coils. Then check that the compressor is running. It should be warm and you should be able to feel it vibrating. That you can hear it is a good indication that it is on.
Check the coils for frost.
If there is no frost either you have a plug in the sealed system or you are out of freon. If there is just frost in one area (usually where the freon enters the coils) or it is blotchy odds are that you have a leak and are low on freon.
In either case you are probably better to put your dollars toward a new unit as this will be a relatively expensive repair. |
