I have a LG wasing machine and it quit working mid cycle. It had smoke coming from the control panel and smelled like electrical wire burning inside the panel. Did LG have a problem with the panels? Would a timer do this? Any help wiound be greatly appreciated.

I have a LG WT7600H*A.ABWETUS that I am trying to change the inlet valve on. I am unable to remove the control panel cover, it doesn't seem to come off following youtube instructional videos and I am leery about using too much force.
