10 year old SHARP micro door won't open, even when "door open button" is depressed all the way. Can remove "button", but can't figure out how to fix--or why it doesn't work. Spring on one rod still seems "springy"!

Had noticed button wasn't working right for a few days, but was so busy didn't stop to think it might be developing problem.

Is it possible to fix at home--or should micro be taken to repair?

Thanks!

If this is a simple counter top microwave then you can remove the cabinet, open the door from inside of the microwave and diagnose the problem.

If this an over the range model then it is much more complicated and you probably have to call a qualified tech to fix it.

In any way replacement parts, most likely, have to be ordered from Sharp only.
