had a small fire in the microwave, nothing was damaged by heat, now the microwave does not power up, no display, completely dead. Looks like a small amount of black soot in the exhaust vent area. The only electrical part near there is a component called the "gas sensor". I have checked the fuse, it is good and verifiyed there is power to the unit. Could the gas sensor have been damaged by the small fire. If the Gas sensor was bad would it keep the unit from powering up at all?

Item# 1121 on the first diagram is your problem, not the gas sensor. This part is also known as a flame sensor and is designed to kill power when it detects over heating or a fire.

Same exact scenario, as described above (I had some flames that could potentially reach the gas sensor)
Please, help me select the right sensor in my case.
