KitchenAid Washer will fill & drain, but not agitate or spin

(Not sure how old our washer is- it came with our house~)
It fills and drains fine, but apparently isn't spinning/agitating. I tried it on several different cycles thinking maybe it would work on another one, but it isn't working at all- it doesn't make any sounds or anything. Any suggestions?

Make sure the lid switch is working, should make a click when you close the lid.

Sounds like the lid switch is working fine.

Make sure there is power at the outlet, rather unusual problem unless a connector came loose.

If it drains, the motor works, is that true.

Pull the pump and motor and turn the tranny coupler clockwise and counterclockwise and post your results.

It's hard to turn clockwise- takes a lot of pressure, doesn't really turn counterclockwise at all. Is it supposed to be so difficult to turn? It only rotates the agitator & basket at the same time- the agitator doesn't turn independent of the basket. Is it supposed to be like that?

Seems like a bad tranny. Pull it out and check.
