I read that it can be much cheaper to replace the timer motor instead of the whole assembly. How do I find out what motor I need? Thanks!

This is correct for almost all of the time. Motor timer motors do not come separately. LINK> Timer Assembly. jeff sr.

When they do, they list it in the parts diagram of the model number in question.
