Freezer and refrigerator seem to be keeping food appropriately cold, but ice maker is not working and upon removing the rear panel, I found a giant ice block in the upper right of the compartment. The fins were pretty much frost/ice free before I started melting the ice block. I melted all the ice and the ice maker is still not working. Edited by user Sunday, June 16, 2024 8:16:17 AM(UTC)

Hi,
**Freezer and refrigerator seem to be keeping food appropriately cold, but ice maker is not working **
What are the temps (measured with a thermometer) in the FF and FZ sections?
I see bare coils on the back of that evaporator which tells me the refrigeration system may be weak and not keeping the correct temps....the ice maker will only work if the FZ temps gets cold enough.
A weak refrigeration system, could be a leaker, restriction, inefficient compressor or any combination of these.

jeff sr. Thank you for the reply. A digital thermometer in the freezer compartment got down to 9 degrees. In the refrigerator compartment, it read 38 degrees.

Freezer should be 0ºF to -5ºF. Fresh Food should be 37 to 40ºF.
It is 9ºF too warm in the freezer. *Most* ice makers will work once the temp gets below 15ºF....but stranger things have happened.
Pastries, ice cream, frozen juice normally need to be closer to 0ºF to become frozen.
Probably a good idea to have someone come in and test the refrigeration system.
