Hello, hopefully someone can help me find the issue on my parents washer. The washer agitates but won't spin, when the water empties out it makes like a drowning or whining sound. I have already changed the clutch, coupler and capacitor.

Today I took it apart and was about to change the drive block but seems it's in good condition as the drive basket tabs seem to be sitting fine on the drive block. Cleaned both baskets as I thought the build up of lint and grim caused the basket to not spin but after cleaning and putting back the basket and tighten the nut with the spanner wrench it seemed to not want to spin freely again. Put everything back and still wouldn't spin when trying it all put together. Any suggestions or advice would really be appreciated

Hitzemup, thank you for your question. If the motor can be heard trying to operate, and nothing will spin, the most likely failure would be the transmission since the coupler and clutch have been changed out. To further verify if it is the transmission, the brake can be inspected to identify if it has seized up. If it has not, this further leads to the transmission. https://www.appliancepar...n-3360629-ap3096209.html

Thank you so much for the info, will order the part and try it. Think that's my issue as I did a bit more research after your response and found a video of a guy explaining how to see if the transmission is working correctly and saw another one where the guy has the transmission open and explained my same issue. The transmission turns to the left and agitates and during the spin cycle it turns to the other side and if it doesn't, a gear inside the transmission either wore out or broke and doesn't allow the basket to turn. Thanks so much for the help, greatly appreciate the info. Will update when finished, thanks again

Finally got around to changing out the new transmission and it finally spins the basket!!! After putting it together I would get a really bad burning smell but changed back to my og capacitor and the bad burning smell went away. I still get a very weak burning smell but seems to go away but the washer works fully 🤷‍♂️

Thankx for the update, that can help others :)

Keep an eye (nose) on odour. Any rubber bits in the motor from the coupler? Any dust in the motor ends?

Found a small circle like rubber piece (like a washer for a screw) at the bottom of the washer, don't know where it came from as nothing is leaking, no water or oil. The piece seemed to smell burnt and had a small price broken off. Maybe it got caught in the motor but don't know where it's from. I'll also keep in mind the dust. The old coupler was in good condition but still replaced it to a new one. I'll just keep a eye and nose on it 🤷‍♂️ but thanks for everything.
