There is ice all over the thermistor housing in the freezer, a big old chunk of it. I can also see the coils in the bottom behind the cover are solid ice. I think this is the ultimate cause of why the fridge is hot. I can take it apart and defrost, but has some part failed? Fridge has worked fine all the time until now. Air is flowing out of the grill in the freezer, and it is cold. Damper in fridge is WIDE OPEN.

What is the part I should look at testing and replacing?

Here is what we are working with, folks... There is a massive ball of ice on that 'thing' in the upper right above the coils. That thermistor and the cover on the coil cover was encased in ice. I got that off and there is ice behind it as well. This feels like a diagnostic no brainer on a failed part but I don't know what.

Did you figure it out? I have the same exact thing. I can defrost it all and it will work for a while but then it's right back to the same thing a couple months later.
