My microwave's door is cracked and some of the plastic has fallen off. It is mounted above the stove, under the cabinets. I would like to purchase the outer frame Frame, outer (white)
Part Number: AP3774840 made by WHIRLPOOL:

But I want to be sure that I can attach it properly. I am not a handyman, but I know my way around a screwdriver. :)

Any advice is welcome. Keep in mind that I can't take the microwave down.

Thanks.

You can find the complete instructions in the Service manual.

Thanks, Gene, the manual answers how to take it apart... I just hope reversing the instructions will enable me to reassemble it. So, I will buy part #10, the outer door, correct? Then I will take all the parts out of the old one and put them back into the new one, right?

Thanks for your help.

Okay, the new door frame showed up and the first instruction poses a problem. It says I need to unscrew a screw at the top of the door hinge so I can remove the door. But there is no screw there. Or else the diagram on page 4-19 is showing that the screw is underneath the door frame? Am I supposed to break the old door frame to get to the screw??

Thanks.

There is a screw (#18 on the diagram). Did you remove the top grill?

There is NOT a screw up there. Yes, I did remove the grill up top. We ended up prying the old plastic outside off since it was broken anyway. The fastener at the top wasn't a screw anyway, it was smooth and flat. My husband pulled the door off the hinge.

Now I have another dilemma: the door came with some small edges broken off. They are supposed to hold the glass in place on the sides. Also, the old door had some sort of glue holding the glass in place, but I can't figure out for the life of me what kind of glue I can use to bond glass to plastic and not be dangerous or flammable.

Any suggestions?

Now I am totally frustrated. I can't get the door back on the hinges. I'm not sure what the term is for that kind of hinge: the top one has a little thing that sticks down, the bottom one has a little thing that sticks up. It seems like what you are supposed to do is slide one on until it pops into the hole in the door, which will make it possible to push the door up, allowing the other hinge to slide in and pop into place. Except, they just won't do it. For love or money. If there is a trick, I'd love to know it.
