I was given a Maytag Bravos XL electric dryer Model MEDB080BW0 for possible repair by a friend. In checking the diagnostics for failure codes E.04 or F.04 shows up on the display screen. The small booklet does not give info on this code. No obvious problems are evident and I am looking for help before I take this unit apart. The wall outlet is providing proper 220 volts and the internal circuit board in the console shows no burned or damaged components. Can someone help with suggestions as to the most likely problems and the code explanation these codes

I dismantled this unit and checked the belt failure switch and the thermal fuse which were both OK. I am still getting the fail codes same as before when all the equipment is put back in place and the unit is plugged in to the normal wall outlet. An y suggestions as to other items to check before I replace the main control board ?

The main circuit board was removed from the console section after disconnecting all the leads. After it was removed from the carrier a significant burn mark was noted on the underside of the panel directly under the K1 relay . A repair service was contacted to determine if they can replace this large relay . Has any one done this repair on this board with success ?

In searching thru my spare parts I found another circuit board that was intact with no burn marks on the back side. Does anyone have a source for the K 1 relay for this board and this brand of dryer if I try to repair the damaged one.? It is a pretty tricky soldering job however .
