I have a Kenmore top-load washing machine problem.

When i pull the button out to start a load, all it does it is make a noise that sounds like a gear or something is broke. The agitator does not spin at all. it's almost like a grinding sound like something gear driven is broke. Anywhere i move the button on any cycle and pull it out to run the same thing happens..

Anyone out there that can diagnose this??? Thanks for any help you can provide
