Here is the answer. Maytag is aware of this problem and is not fully disclosing it. Maytag thinks they have a “workaround” part, but it is not officially approved. The W10606694A conversion kit will not fit the MGD7230HW2 dryer. Retailers continue to sell the dryer and kit together. DO NOT BUY THIS DRYER IF YOU PLAN TO CONVERT IT TO LP. I continue to get the run around from Maytag customer service. Buyer beware!

Any idea what the workaround part is? Brief update: I called Maytag today, the associate said a bulletin was sent to the employees making them aware of this issue. She said engineering has identified a part, though she didn’t have the part number. The part will be mailed out FedEx and I should have it in 10 days. Fingers crossed.
