Hey!
I replaced my ice maker about 6 months ago after it died (Whirlpool W10882923). A few weeks ago it stopped working. The ice drawer (the piece with the ice corkscrew) was frozen in there. It finally thawed enough so I could take it out.
I turned the maker back on and watched it go. The silver arm slowly rises. Water starts filling but immediately hits the funnel and spills over the side. I'm unable to remove the ice maker unit since it's still frozen in place. Any ideas on how to get this out without turning off the fridge for several hours?
Next is how do I prevent the funnel from freezing again?
When I replaced this unit, I read about a problem with the water solenoid not working correctly. It will just continue filling and not shut off. But that doesn't seem to be the case as it seems to work correctly. Also I ended up replacing it with a new part when I changed the ice maker too.
TIA
