I have a maytag dryer about 10 years old. It won,t turn on. there is only 55 volts getting to the motor. Why the voltage drop? When I push the start timer in I only get 50 volts at the terminals even with the plug pulled from the motor.

Hi Neil
You are going to have to trace your voltage from the connection block or input into the timer and see where the loss occurs. Obviously your first check is to see if the proper voltage is entering the machine. The suspicion is a faulty timer and partial short in the wiring.
If you want more info, please post your full model number, at this point we don't even know if your machine is gas (120v) or electric (240v).
Good luck, and let us know what your preliminary results are.
