My Amana oven does not respond to half of the buttons on the touch pad. I had this problem a couple of years ago with the same thing - I took everything apart - disconnected the switch panel from the controller. When I put it back together and it began working again.
It quit again on half of the panel - I took it apart again and now it doesn't work at all. I noticed oil residue from the oven has permeated the control panel and touch panel.
I tried to clean the flexible printed circuit contacts to no avail. I suspect the touch panel to be the problem. It could be the controller - I am prepared to buy the touch panel but I thought I would ask here before I did.
Any thoughts?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for AMANA AEW3530DDS | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a tech sheet http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16022507.pdfAnd here is a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16022506.pdfI think I would try to re-clean the connectors. If it still does not work I would check the keypad with a meter as per the tech sheet. Your problem could be the keypad or the control board, with the keypad being the most likely, best to try and narrow it down as much as possible. Putting over $250.00 for a keypad into this unit may not be worth it especially if it turns out you also have to get a control board, another ~$100.00. RIBBON CABLE CLEANING Unplug the unit Open it up Remove the ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board at the control board. Clean the edge connector. If it is the type where there is not a connector just the insulation is removed, it can be cleaned with a pencil eraser. Do not use an ink eraser as it is too abrasive. Check the tracks in the ribbon cable for hairline cracks. A magnifying glass helps here. Would not hurt to clean the connector on the board. Use electronics contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and a tooth brush. Be gentle and do not reconnect till all the solvent evaporates. Reconnect everything and give it a try. |
