Was running a load of laundry and opened the dryer to take some shirts out to hang up. When I went to close the door the dryer would only make a buzzing noise and nothing would happen. Now with the door sensor on the upper right hand side pressed in and the timer on it makes the noise whether I have pulled the start switch or not. The drum rotates, but I wouldn't say it's easy to rotate so I'm leaning more towards switch rather than belt. Or could it possibly be the motor? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the motor has a lot of drag probably due to the bearings being worn or dry of lube. Try running the drum with no clothes inside. If it buzzes or needs help to start your motor is needing replacement. Another possibility is seized rear bearing or the front supports are worn really bad.

Hope this helps someone out in the future - had a friend come out who owns an appliance repair business. Motor is shot and he said it wasn't worth fixing. So if anyone else has this problem that's probably your answer. Thanks for the suggestion as well Thorning!

Most likely the motor's start switch was stuck in the "run" position.
