GE Washer Model WPRE6100G0WT. everything works fine except after sitting a day or 2 there is about 2 inches of water in the tub. Forums seem to point to pump but those are usually for no draining at all.

Are you saying that after you have finished a load and it has spun and drained properly you go back after not using the machine for two days and find water in it?
If this is the case it sounds as though your water inlet valve (either hot or cold) is stuck partially open or has debris in the seal allowing water to seep by.
They are cheap enough to replace.
