I have a GE upright NON-DEFROSTING freezer that is freezing items on the top shelf and each successive shelf is warmer until the bottom where it is only cool. We just moved and it was working fine, plugged it in at the new house and it started up just fine. Just discovered thawed meat in the bottom. The top shelf is covered in frost. Is there anything I can look at for a fix or has it's time come?

Basic checks like is the gasket intact all the way around the door? Door closing normally?

Quick guess is a leak in the sealed system, does it run more than usual?

Otherwise you are likely shopping for a new one just due to parts costs. Nobody fixes this style sealed system as the shelves are the evaporator and it's a nightmare fix for an inexpensive unit.
