The washer is a 10 year old GE Super Capacity Plus (WWSE5240G0WW) that has only about 4 or 5 year's of actual use. Machine cycles thru but at agitate and spin points of cycle, nothing happens. I have verified lid switch is good, belt is intact, and I can spin the pulley manually; I have confirmed continuity on the line to motor circuit (there is no fuse). On advice of another "expert", installed a new motor......but condition still not corrected. Neither the old motor or the new one seems to have "status LEDs" that Ive seen mentioned in other posts, and YOUTUBE videos. I should mention that the machine sat idle and unplugged for several months, and worked fine prior to that downtime.
