Top freezer style refrigerator/freezer. I got it for free and don't really know how old it is. Recent acquisition. For several weeks it ran hot and cold. Either the freezer would only be 40 deg F or the refrigerator would freeze water. Then the door got left partially open, possibly for several days. Now it hardly cools at all.

Have been reading commentary here. Pulled the back panel off the freezer to see if coils were all frozen. Picture attached of what I found. I fully defrosted and then turned machine back on. Get exactly the same result.

There are two rolls of coil. The first quarter of the lower coil is covered with ice. None of the rest of the coils. I have a non-contact laser thermometer. The frozen section measures from 8 deg F to 32. The non- frozen section measures up to 50 F.

I presume this means something but have no idea what.
