Water got into my microwave from a leak in the upstairs shower. When I went to use it the transformer started burning up. I removed it and it looks like the secondary coil was the one that was burning. I obviously need to change the transformer, but I'm not sure the transformer is the issue. Could the magnetron be where the short is and caused the transformer to burn?

I can't tell you what is causing your transformer to burn. It could be there was still some water in it. It could be something else.

I can tell you its going to cost $60 to $90 to replace that transformer and if more parts are damaged it will cost even more.

Thanks for your response. I ordered a transformer for $60. I figure if it's a wet component causing the issue, it will be dry by the time the part arrives and I have the time to install it. A new, similar model is $400 so I took the chance that I would be able to get it going again with the new transformer.
