Just unpacked the new Kenmore 4.8cf HE toploader and the fabric softener is not draining from the dispenser tray. I pulled out the tray and filled it with water and it drains. After several loads the original fabric softener is still in the tray. The soap dispenses fine.

The soap and softener trays are side by side in the pullout dispenser center.
I took a mirror and flash light and looked at the area above the trays where I believe water would come from. There seem to be 2 slots above the soap tray but I could not detect any slots for water above the softener tray. Can't be sure but it looked that way to me.

Somewhere in all the research and reading reviews I did, I thought I read a review that said there was a hole that wasn't open (mfg issue) that was causing this type of failure.

Any confirmation of this out there?

Will be getting back with my dealer soon but just wanted to see if there was any info out there on this.
