I installed a thermal cut-off kit in the dryer because it was getting way too hot when running, really overheating. After a bunch or research I decided that was the issue but......now as soon as I plug the dryer in the heating element turns on and if I push the start button it just hums. Any advice?
BTW, I have 10 ohms across the heating element

I re-installed the original parts and now it is doing the same thing, heating up as soon as it's plugged in.
I did, however, pop the breaker when I first installed the new parts. I had plugged the wires into the thermostat itself (not thinking) instead of one in the thermostat and one into the heating element and bridging with the jumper....

I guess I'll have a new dryer minus the shell and switches when I'm through.
