This machine is a KitchenAid Two Speed Quiet Scrub. I am needing to find out if the Two Speed refers to the agitation cycle.

I was in the middle if repairing a broken drive coupling, and my wife says,"I was hoping we needed a new machine. I am tired of the delicate setting beating the clothes to death."

Apparently there is only one speed for the agitation, regardless of whether using the regular or delicate cycle. It does seem to spin at a lower speed, though. Is there something wrong with this machine or is it just the nature of the beast?

Well, I found the owner's manual. Amazing after 22 years, eh!

I guess I answered my own question. The agitator in the wash cycle only has one speed. The only difference between regular and delicate is the amount of time that the agitator is actually churning.

I don't know if the newer machines have different agitator speeds for this or not. If so, I hope my wife doesn't find out. A $17.25 part (including shipping) is way cheaper than a new machine!
