I have a maytag atlantis model #mde7400ayw and serial # 24189128GC that works sometimes. Basically a couple of months ago you had to pull it 2 or 3 times to get it started. That has progressed to a dozen or more times each use now and finally gave up this past weekend after jiggling, pulling, etc for 20 minutes. I decided to replace the timer - I wanted to get the part number off of the old one as there seemed to be a couple of different ones out there, so I opened it up, wrote down the number and shut it back - I also wiped down the moisture sensor inside as I had just read of people replacing the timer only to have this be the problem - When I plugged it back it, it worked flawlessly for a few days. Then today, quit working completely. I reopened the back, pushed on all of the timer wires (dryer was unplugged) and then wiped the sensor again before plugging it back in and it is currently working great again (comes on on the first pull). It needs something, just don't know if it is most likely the timer (all in one with on/off) or the sensor. The timer seems more likely as the sensor didn't look dirty and it didn't come back on until I opened the back up again, but I am no repairman which is why I'm here.. Is there anything that could just be resetting when I unplug it since it seems to be either that or the wires getting moved a little? Thanks for any input..
