My 70 series Kenmore washer appears to be agitating too slowly while operating. I can look closer next cycle if needed but I am thinking that it agitates at the gentle setting when it is on heavy. I do believe it is still moving so it does not appear to be a total disconnect if that makes sense.
Any suggestions on what to check would be greatly appreciated

I found this: "From the description you give there are two possible causes of this problem.

The agitator is mounted to the top of the transmission and is secured by a bolt. There are two parts to the agitator. The top part is driven by a cam and agitator dogs. If the washer is overloaded the top part of the agitator may turn slowly. If the agitator dogs and cam are stripped then the top part of the agitator (auger) might not turn at all.

The problem can be with the bolt being loose, the agitator dogs are stripped out or the transmission is the problem.

For this problem I'd first suggest you remove the agitator from the transmission shaft and visually confirm how the agitator itself is turning. If the transmission shaft is aggressively agitating then the problem will most likely be with the agitator.

If the transmission shaft is sluggish then the problem is most likely with the transmission itself.

There is a motor coupler that transfers the power from the motor to the transmission. If the coupler is broken then the washer wouldn't agitate or spin.

The image below will show you how to remove the cabinet to check the motor coupler. Your particular washer has two end caps that must be removed to access the screws holding the console.

If the transmission is the problem then it will most likely be a better idea to replace the washer instead of repairing it.

The 3360629 transmission is about $175 dollars for just the part while a brand new similar washer will start in the $329 range.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional detail for further assistance."

Could this contribute to the answer of my problem?

Hmmm. Am I describing something that cannot mechanically happen? No troubleshooting help at all?
